Last fall Will was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and his doctors submitted his name to the Make a Wish Foundation. Yesterday, his wish was granted. Will Leonard got to throw out the first pitch at Fenway Park after spending the afternoon with his family fielding balls from batting practice and meeting the players.
Will got to hang out in the dugout with his favorite player Big Papi and get his Oritz shirt signed. Papi later received Will's pitch returning the signed ceremonial ball to Will. Another family favorite Matsuzaka took time out to sign a few balls, shirts and hats and even posed with the family for a photo. Papelbon also came by to spread a little cheer from Red Sox nation.
The game was a close one with Youkilis hitting the game tying double in the bottom of the ninth. Youkilis again came through in the 11th ending the game with a walk off sacrifice fly sending the Sox to a 3-2 victory over the Rangers. A perfect end to a perfect day for the Leonard family.
The Boston Herald was there covering the story for today's paper. Check out the story here. http://bostonherald.com/news/regional/view.bg?articleid=1268669
