At age 7, Hanna was diagnosed Burkitt's Lyphoma, a very rate and aggressive form of cancer. Doctors gave her less than 2 weeks to live and started chemotherapy treatment right away. She endured months of chemotherapy and beat the disease. The Make-A-Wish Foundation granted her wish to go to Disney World a few months later and her and her family had an amazing time.
Having successfully beat cancer, Hanna became determined to make sure that all sick kids could have their wishes granted. She began to make and sell heart shaped necklaces made out of walnuts and melted crayons. To date, she has already raised over $30,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Today, Hanna was honored with a Heroes Among Us award from the Boston Celtics organization in a ceremony at the State House. She was interviewed by both Channel 7 and Channel 5 news who both ran stories on her charity this evening. Hanna-Your charity and giving spirit are both amazing and an inspiration to all of us.
